Duke Nukem 3D (MEGATON EDITION)

FUNHOUSE PARK (a single player map)
Map name: FUNHOUSE.MAP
Version: 2

By Dan May (1999 / 2014)

This map was built in 1999 and updated in 2014 and will only work with the Megaton edition of Duke Nukem 3D. If you try to run it in classic it will crash.

Scenario:-

A recently new theme park has just been closed down because of a nasty accident inside the main funhouse. Nobody has been there for a while now, and until insurance’s are sorted out, it’ll remain closed. But yesterday the national grid detected a sudden power surge in the general area of the park. This would indicate that someone has restored the park generator to full power. Representitives have visited the site but not returned. The generators are powering all of the attractions. Perhaps someone or something just wants to have fun?

Other news concerns sightings of a UFO heading in the same direction as the park. The power surge at the park was discovered shortly afterwards. EDF Headquarters are linking the two events together.

ATTENTION DUKE NUKEM. FOR YOUR EYE’S ONLY.
A small alien taskforce has landed in Funhouse Park and restored power to the rides. Their purpose is unknown. Duke, go there and bust their asses. You have our permission to enjoy yourself on this one.

- General Frederick Smith Smyth Smith. OBE. BSC. MD. NBE. BSE. TIT.

The Map:-

This is a theme park, of sorts. It’s quite small and there are no roller coasters. Though it is a small park, it’s a huge map! It’s non-linear and there are quite a few monsters, usually in groups.

IMPORTANT! YOU MUST HIT THE SWITCH YOU SEE AS SOON AS THE LEVEL STARTS!
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS YOU WILL MISS OUT ON THE ‘SPACE RIDE OF TERROR’ LATER ON!!!

Hints & Tips:-

- If you need help in the Sanity Maze here is a clue: rats and water!

- At the start of the level you can only access the mens toilets. The disabled toilets are not accessable in this map.

- There are nine secrets, most of which are supplied with a clue. A clue could be blatently obvious or vicously difficult. Some clues are given below.

- When you kick the KICK-O-MATIC notice how some of the letters are blown up!?

- Allthough the Monster Train is broken you can still enjoy the ride by walking the track. The gate is closed but there is anoter way to get onto the track.

- There is a clue to a secret place in the freak house but you won't see the clue until later, unless you find another secret place where you may bypass the clue alltogether but possibly prevent loss of health also!!!

- The objective of this map is to find four red key cards to open the funhouse gates. Access the control room from the Monster Train to open the main funhouse door. Blue and yellow key cards must then be found to reveal the exit outside. Once you find a red key card you will have to use it before you find another one because you can only carry one of
each colour.

- When walking along the Monster Train track try not to run as you may get a nasty surprise!

- Don't jump into the big river outside the rear of the funhouse, you will die!

- Don't stand to close to the shark tank, they can bite through the glass!

- It's important that you hit the switch at the start of the level to stop the conveyour belt for the space ride of terror. The ride works by passing a camera along the conveyour, passing sprites like rocks and the shuttle. Conveyours always start 'on' when levels start, there is no way to have it start 'off'. Not even a touchplate activator will stop it, it must be a switch. So do it or miss out!

- If the funfare music is getting on your nerves, why not shoot all of the speakers!

- There are a total of 13 secreat areas, when you find one you will hear Duke whistle.
